Hey There,
I’m Dom
I’m Dominick Cicero and I’m a graphic designer! My journey in the creative world started early. I initially pursued a degree in Film and Television. I’ve always been drawn to visual storytelling and the power of media to shape perspectives. During my high school years, I began working for a restaurant hospitality group, a job I continued through college. After learning more about the company and industry in general, I was suggested for a position in the company in outreach and engagement. This new position was a game-changer for me. It allowed me to dive into marketing strategies, community engagement initiatives, and brand representation, giving me a firsthand look at how businesses connect with their audience. I developed key skills in promotional content creation, brand messaging, and public relations, learning how to create campaigns that resonated with both new and returning guests. This role not only sharpened my communication skills but also taught me how to be versatile in adapting brand messaging for different platforms and audiences, ensuring a cohesive and impactful brand presence.
This is when I transitioned into more graphic design work for the group, leading to an assistant graphic designer job, which felt like the perfect intersection of creativity and strategy. I had the opportunity to collaborate with our corporate team, sales and events department, social media and design managers, and restaurant level general managers responsible for creating a wide range of visual content, including print materials like flyers and menus, as well as digital content for social media and email marketing. I quickly became proficient in industry-standard tools like Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Adobe Illustrator, as well as web-based tools such as MailChimp and SquareSpace. Working in graphic design also opened my eyes to the importance of visual identity and how design can influence customer perception. It wasn’t just about making something look good—it was about creating visuals that communicated a message and engaged the audience in a meaningful way. I found myself increasingly passionate about design, which ultimately led me to switch my major from Film to Visual Communication Design (or, as I like to say, “fancy words for graphic design!”).
Today, I’m proud to call myself a graphic designer, a title that reflects my dedication to both creative expression and strategic thinking. Over the years, I’ve developed a unique design style that blends modern trends with timeless principles, always ensuring that my work is both visually appealing and functional. I believe that great design is about more than just aesthetics—it’s about communication. I’m constantly learning, refining my skills, and exploring new design techniques to stay ahead of industry trends, while remaining true to my own creative voice. Graphic design isn’t just my career; it’s my passion, and I’m always excited to tackle new challenges and create work that makes an impact.
